This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Cloud Engineer based in India.
This role offers an opportunity to lead the engineering, automation, deployment, and operational support of modern cloud and hybrid infrastructure. You will take ownership of Azure platforms while helping connect cloud services with complex on-premises datacenter environments. The position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership across cloud, DevOps, infrastructure, security, and application teams. You will drive Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, platform reliability, security, and operational excellence across critical environments. The role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and modernizing technology platforms. You will also mentor technical teams, establish best practices, and contribute to long-term cloud transformation initiatives.
- Lead cloud engineering initiatives across Azure and hybrid environments, covering infrastructure provisioning, deployment automation, platform reliability, and operational readiness.
- Design, manage, and support Azure services including AKS, Azure Container Apps, Azure Firewall, Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, App Service, Azure Networking, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and related platform technologies.
- Manage and support on-premises datacenter environments, including Linux systems, compute, storage, networking, virtualization and container platforms, Rancher, monitoring, backup/recovery coordination, and Azure integrations.
- Build and continuously improve Infrastructure as Code using Bicep and Terraform, developing reusable modules and promoting secure, standardized, and governed deployments.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, and GitHub Actions for both infrastructure and application deployments.
- Drive automation across environment provisioning, configuration management, release processes, monitoring, and recurring operational activities.
- Partner with application teams to onboard workloads, resolve deployment challenges, improve release quality, and establish consistent cloud and DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to strengthen networking, access controls, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, compliance, and cloud governance.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, documentation, and best-practice guidance to cloud, DevOps, infrastructure, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, platform optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Systems Engineering, Datacenter Operations, or a related technology field.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud networking, container platforms, platform services, and production operations.
- Practical experience with AKS, Azure Container Apps, Azure Firewall, Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, App Service, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, and related Azure technologies.
- Strong experience managing on-premises datacenter infrastructure, including Linux systems, compute, storage, networking, virtualization or containers, monitoring, and operational support.
- Advanced Infrastructure as Code experience with Bicep and Terraform, including reusable modules, deployment standards, and governance.
- Hands-on experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Strong Linux administration and scripting capabilities, with practical experience using Bash, PowerShell, or comparable automation tools.
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure, Rancher, containerized workloads, and integrations between on-premises platforms and cloud environments.
- Solid understanding of source control, branching strategies, release management, deployment governance, and environment promotion practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, infrastructure, networking, pipelines, cloud platforms, and hybrid environments.
- Relevant Azure, Kubernetes, or DevOps certifications are preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading cloud modernization, migration, platform automation, datacenter modernization, or DevOps transformation initiatives is highly valued.
- Experience with observability, log analytics, alerting, dashboards, SLO/SLA reporting, operational metrics, security frameworks, policy-as-code, vulnerability management, and compliance controls is advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to engineering, security, operations, and leadership audiences.
- Ability to lead through influence, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high standards for security, quality, documentation, reliability, and operational excellence.
