GENERAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN in Franklin, Indiana at Johnson Memorial Hospital

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs routine and complex assigned tasks in one section of the laboratory, including tasks of moderate to high complexity.

Performs routine and complex assigned tasks in additional sections of the laboratory, including tasks of moderate to high complexity with section head supervision.

Provides appropriate services to meet the needs of the department’s customers as requested including but not limited to the provision of accurate and timely information.

Assists with the maintenance of equipment, including scheduled, preventative and diagnostic maintenance as outlined in laboratory procedure and manufacturer user manuals.

Assists in the reporting of Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities as determined by JMH, including JMH operations improvement.

Assists with the performance of quality control procedures, documents results, and investigates and resolves abnormal results, with appropriate supervisory notification of activity.

Makes appropriate suggestions to improve productivity and enhance expense reduction to the Section Head; uses laboratory supplies responsibly.

Provides technical guidance for customers as it relates to laboratory procedures and operations.

Participates in professional activities and continuing education to maintain professional expertise.

Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Performs additional duties as required which relate to the function of the hospital.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or other physical sciences required. Preferred one year experience in a laboratory environment.
