Job Description

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

Maintain the facility, equipment, and surrounding areas in compliance with Food Safety and Quality (SQF) standards and company food safety procedures. Follow all company safety rules and policies while supporting the Sanitation Department in ensuring all cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance assignments are completed effectively and on schedule.

Work Schedule: Monday through Wednesday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Thursday and Friday off; Saturday hours are scheduled based on production and maintenance needs; Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Schedule may be modified based on business, production, maintenance, and operational requirements. Overtime and additional hours may be required as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Comply with all company, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF requirements.
  2. Perform all sanitation duties required under FDA and SQF guidelines in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  3. Complete daily housekeeping assignments throughout the facility.
  4. Complete weekly facility cleaning assignments.
  5. Perform cleaning assignments during production downtime and scheduled shutdown periods.
  6. Assist in training and sharing sanitation procedures with new employees.
  7. Accurately record completed tasks on sanitation cleaning schedules and related documentation.
  8. Coordinate and assist with maintaining cleaning supply and material inventories.
  9. Perform basic facility maintenance tasks, including replacing or repairing rack sections, changing light bulbs, and moving equipment or materials as needed.
  10. Comply with all Quality Assurance, SQF, and Food Safety requirements.
  11. Follow all workplace safety procedures and guidelines.
  12. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain proper work attire at all times.
  13. Utilize Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and equipment as required.
  14. Support wastewater management operations and compliance activities.
  15. Adhere to all quality systems, food safety, and SQF procedures.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Must be dependable, punctual, and capable of performing assigned duties in a satisfactory and timely manner.
  2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating initiative and accountability.
  3. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team while fostering positive working relationships.
  4. Must be able to understand, interpret, and follow policies, procedures, instructions, regulations, and safety information written in English. The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
  5. Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  6. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
  7. Ability to identify and resolve problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in wet, cold, hot, and noisy environments.
  • Ability to safely work with cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a food manufacturing environment and requires strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, quality, and workplace safety standards at all times. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, production equipment, cleaning chemicals, and manufacturing noise levels.
