Role Overview

AstroNova is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain to troubleshoot production issues, streamline workflows, and develop reliable manufacturing processes.

Core Responsibilities

• Floor & Operations Support: Provide hands-on engineering support across assembly and manufacturing operations. Troubleshoot production issues and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Process Optimization & Documentation: Develop and update work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation. Design and improve fixtures, tooling, and production aids.
• Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives to improve productivity, quality, ergonomics, workflow, and material flow. Assist with the implementation of automation and emerging manufacturing technologies.
• NPI & Engineering Collaboration: Support New Product Introductions (NPI), equipment implementation, and process validation. Review engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical specifications with cross-functional teams.
• Data & Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data to support troubleshooting, process improvement, and manufacturing decisions.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field. Equivalent education and relevant experience may also be considered.
• Experience: Relevant engineering or manufacturing experience. Internships, co-ops, and relevant academic projects are considered applicable experience.
• Technical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and engineering drawings.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills with an interest in working directly on the manufacturing floor.
• Technical Communication: Ability to clearly document manufacturing processes and communicate technical information.
• Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Experience

• Foundational knowledge of electronics and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Familiarity with automation, robotics, or industrial controls.
• Familiarity with programming, scripting, computer vision, or other software-based technologies.
• Familiarity with CAD software and basic mechanical design principles.
• Exposure to fixture/tooling design and manufacturing process improvement.
• Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS).
