Job Description

Senior Digital Content & Social Lead (Contractor)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Digital Content & Social Lead (Contractor) based in the United States.

Take the lead in shaping the digital presence of a mission-driven brand focused on wild horse preservation, animal welfare, public lands stewardship, and women's empowerment. This independent consulting engagement combines creative strategy with hands-on execution across short-form video, graphic design, social media publishing, and editorial copywriting. You will transform complex environmental and animal welfare issues into engaging, accessible stories that connect with audiences and inspire action. From developing compelling Reels and TikToks to creating cohesive visual assets and high-performing social campaigns, you will own the content process from concept to publication. You will also use platform analytics to refine creative approaches, strengthen audience engagement, and improve content performance. This remote, part-time opportunity offers substantial creative autonomy and the flexibility to manage your own schedule, tools, and working methods.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Digital Content & Social Lead, you will independently manage end-to-end digital content production and social media execution, ensuring that every asset reflects the brand's identity, voice, and mission. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Short-form video production: Conceptualize, produce, edit, and optimize engaging video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other emerging platforms.

  • Creative hooks and audio design: Develop compelling opening moments, structure on-screen text for clarity and impact, and select or mix trending audio and voiceovers to support audience discovery.

  • Archival and curated storytelling: Source and edit archival footage, historical imagery, stock media, and rights-cleared assets into cohesive, narrative-driven videos.

  • Graphic design and visual assets: Create social media carousels, static graphics, digital action guides, story templates, and promotional materials using appropriate design tools.

  • Brand consistency: Apply the established visual identity across all content, maintaining consistent typography, colors, layouts, and overall presentation.

  • Social media strategy and publishing: Develop and manage the content calendar and handle daily publishing across Instagram, TikTok, and relevant emerging channels.

  • Performance monitoring: Track reach, profile-to-follow conversions, saves, shares, link clicks, and other key metrics to assess content effectiveness.

  • Analytics and recommendations: Produce monthly performance reports and recommend improvements to content hooks, formats, publishing strategies, and distribution.

  • Copywriting and editorial development: Write engaging captions, video overlays, calls to action, and short-form social copy tailored to different audiences and objectives.

  • Brand voice and issue-based storytelling: Translate complex topics related to environmental policy, public lands, wild horses, and animal welfare into warm, clear, conversational content.

  • Independent project execution: Manage the full creative workflow, from initial concepts and scripting to design, editing, publishing, and performance analysis, using your chosen tools and methods.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly versatile digital content professional who combines strong creative judgment with technical execution and the ability to work independently. You should be comfortable managing multiple content formats while maintaining a consistent brand identity and producing work that supports a meaningful mission. Key qualifications include:

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience spanning short-form video production, graphic design, social media publishing, and editorial copywriting.

  • A proven track record creating digital content for a mission-driven brand, media organization, agency, or similar environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects from concept development and scripting through final production and publication.

  • Hands-on proficiency with short-form video tools such as CapCut, Canva Video, or Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Strong graphic design skills and experience using tools such as Figma, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe Photoshop.

  • Deep understanding of Instagram and TikTok, including platform algorithms, trending formats, interactive features, and audience engagement strategies.

  • Excellent short-form copywriting skills, with the ability to create attention-grabbing hooks, compelling captions, effective calls to action, and accessible policy explainers.

  • Strong visual storytelling skills and the ability to turn complex or sensitive subjects into compelling, audience-friendly content.

  • An understanding of social media analytics and the ability to use performance data to inform creative decisions and improve results.

  • Strong organizational skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage deliverables autonomously.

  • A genuine connection to the mission of wild horse preservation, humane treatment of equines and other animals, public lands stewardship, and women's empowerment.

  • A creative portfolio or case studies demonstrating relevant experience in narrative video direction, visual brand assets, social media accounts, collaborative campaigns, or community initiatives.

  • Ability to work as an independent contractor, providing your own equipment, software, and workspace and managing your own business expenses, taxes, and insurance.

Benefits:

This engagement offers competitive hourly compensation, remote flexibility, and the opportunity to contribute creatively to a mission-driven initiative.

  • Hourly rate: $100–$125 per hour.

  • Part-time engagement: Approximately 20–25 hours per week.

  • Contract duration: November 2026 through February 2027, with the possibility of extension.

  • Remote work: U.S.-based engagement, with flexibility to choose your working location and schedule.

  • Creative autonomy: Freedom to determine your working methods, tools, and schedule while owning end-to-end content execution.

  • Independent contractor flexibility: Non-exclusive engagement, allowing you to provide services to other clients during the contract.

  • Meaningful impact: An opportunity to use digital storytelling and creative communication to support wild horse preservation, animal welfare, public lands stewardship, and women's empowerment.

  • Payment structure: Monthly compensation upon submission of your invoice under a consulting agreement and statement of work.

  • Contractor responsibilities: The engagement does not include employee wages or benefits. You will be responsible for your own taxes, insurance, business expenses, software, equipment, and workspace.
