SUMMARY
The Control Room Operator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring accuracy of the automated sorter and conveyors, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verify the daily sort plan configuration, communicating hourly volume levels, and overall sorter induction status utilizing BeSSVIEW software system to Operations Supervisors and Managers.
- Perform virtual sorter maintenance by verifying and acknowledging faults on the BeOS sortation system.
- Maintain communication with the automation technicians and coordinate downtimes for repairs with management.
- Ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the sorter by performing all pre-sort checks and daily priming of the conveyors, monitoring and controlling all sorter operations, troubleshooting, and clearing errors.
- Monitor camera system for jams and problem areas, communicate information to managers and technicians.
- Receive communication from receivers and management when new trailers arrive, document on control log and track.
- Complete all required paperwork, records, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of all housekeeping standards.
- Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or otherwise revised by DHL at its sole discretion.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent training and/or one (1) year transportation or warehouse experience preferred required skills
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- Understand and carry out oral instructions; read, understand and carry out written instructions, work orders, receiving, Bills of Lading (BOLs), graphs, logs or schedules; verify zip code numbers
- Count, perform addition and subtraction
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Train other workers
- Work with a minimum amount of supervision, under pressure, rapidly for long periods and on several tasks at the same time
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Occasionally lift mail, parcels, labels, etc. weighing up to 50 pounds
- This is a warehouse environment where frequently this position will be exposed to cold, hot and changing temperatures; will constantly experience noise at medium level not damaging or loud enough to require protective equipment; will frequently be exposed to dust, dirt and changes in lighting
