Education
-
Master of Science in nursing required/and or completion of Physician’s Assistant program. Board Certification by recognized governing body for APRN (AACN or AANP)/PA. Licensed and in good standing with the Arkansas State Medical Board/ state of Arkansas as a Registered Nurse and an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in Arkansas. Licensed to prescribe controlled substance by the DEA and is in good standing. Basic Life Saver (BCLS) from AHA. Certification: ACLS from AHA.

Experience

The eligibility of the prior experience must be approved by the Vice President of the Heart Care Service Line. Relevant clinical competence as a Physician’s Assistant/ Advanced Practice Nursing; must possess current knowledge of the Physician Assistant/ Advanced nursing process and its application as it relates to diagnosis, evaluation, assessment, and plan of those patients suffering from Cardio-Vascular disease including heart failure or related disease processes. Critical Care and/or prior HF, VAD/ECMO experience is desirable but not required.

- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English in a clear and concise manner. Visual, physical, auditory and cognitive ability to assess patient status. Physical and mental health necessary to care for acutely ill patients with a broad variety of diagnoses and behaviors on a daily basis. Ability to walk, stand, lift, stoop, push and respond quickly in a variety of situations and for an extended period of time.
- Manual dexterity to perform a variety of clinical procedures relevant to practice area (i.e. venipuncture, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, swan-ganz insertion and intubation etc., that are within the scope and credentials of the Physician Assistant
- Ability to use advanced data entry, retrieval systems, PACs systems and the electronic medical record documentation system in a proficient manner.
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English in a clear and concise manner. Visual, physical, auditory and cognitive ability to assess patient status. JOB SUMMARY

The CV Advanced Physician Assistant is a Leadership role in the SBMC CV Service Line Hospital who provides safe, competent quality care based on evidence based medicine to patients and their family and provides leadership to the CV ICU clinical team and directs the CV ICU interdisciplinary team in the absence of the CV Surgeon and/or the CV Anesthesia Intensivist.
