Responsibilities

This is a full-time remote position that can be located anywhere in the U.S

We are hiring a Senior Information Systems Engineer to build and support engineering and automation of our End User Computing (EUC) platform. You will manage Windows endpoints through Microsoft Intune, deliver virtual desktops on Amazon Workspaces, and automate the work end to end with scripting, the Microsoft Graph API and Ansible.

This is a hands-on senior role. You will resolve escalated L2/L3 issues, replace manual processes with code, and mentor L1 support staff.

Key responsibilities

Endpoint management (Microsoft Intune)

  • Design, build and maintain Intune configuration profiles, compliance policies, app deployments and update rings for Windows devices.
  • Automate device, app and policy management through the Microsoft Graph API, including bulk changes, reporting and audit exports.
  • Manage Windows Autopilot enrolment and zero-touch provisioning for new and refreshed devices.
  • Integrate Intune with Entra ID (Azure AD) Conditional Access, groups and identity lifecycle processes.

Virtual desktops (Amazon Workspaces)

  • Build and maintain Amazon Workspaces bundles, custom images and directory integration.
  • Automate Workspaces provisioning, patching, rebuilding and decommissioning through the AWS CLI, SDKs or APIs.
  • Monitor Workspaces performance, cost and utilization, and right-size running modes and bundles.
  • Apply AWS security controls such as IAM, security groups, IP access control groups and encryption.

Automation and configuration management

  • Write and maintain scripts in PowerShell, Python and Bash to automate repeatable EUC tasks.
  • Develop Ansible playbooks and roles for endpoint and virtual desktop configuration, patching and compliance.
  • Store code in Git, follow peer review, and run automation through CI/CD pipelines where suitable.

Operations and support

  • Act as the L2/L3 escalation point for complex endpoint, application and virtual desktop incidents.
  • Run root-cause analysis on recurring issues and deliver permanent fixes.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge base articles.
  • Mentor L1 engineers and service desk staff and contribute to EUC standards and roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in IT systems engineering, with at least 3 years focused on End User Computing.
  • Scripting: strong PowerShell skills, plus working knowledge of Python and/or Bash for automation and API integration.
  • Microsoft Intune with API: hands-on Intune administration at scale, and proven automation through the Microsoft Graph API (authentication via app registrations, REST calls, paging and throttling).
  • Ansible Nice to have: experience writing playbooks, roles and inventories to manage Windows
  • Amazon Workspaces: experience deploying and operating Workspaces, including bundles, custom images, directory services and lifecycle automation.
  • Solid grounding in Windows 10/11 and Entra ID / Active Directory, Group Policy and core networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Experience with Git version control and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
Preferred qualifications
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Exposure to other VDI/DaaS platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365 or Citrix.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and endpoint security baselines (CIS, Microsoft Security Baselines).
  • Packaging experience with Win32 apps, MSIX or PSAppDeployToolkit.
  • Relevant certifications, for example: Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102), AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or SysOps Administrator – Associate, and Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation (Nice to Have)
Skills and attributes
  • An automation-first mindset: you script a task the second time you do it.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical users.
  • Structured troubleshooting and calm ownership of high-impact incidents.
  • Comfortable working independently and setting technical direction for a small team.
