Description:

Job Description:

Founded in 1980 in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Beansprouts offers preschool, after-school, and day camp programs for children ages 2 to 9.

Beansprouts has provided high-quality childcare services to multiple generations of families and has grown children, families and teachers for over 40 years in the Park Slope community.

We are looking for an experienced and effective, process-focused Human Resources professional with a history of success in an administrative HR role who can grow along with us. The HR Recruiting and Compliance Coordinator will work collaboratively with our Director of Human Resources and Senior Leadership Team. Come join our team of gifted educators and caring professionals who work with an amazing group of children and their families here in Park Slope!

About the Role

We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented HR professional to manage our hiring pipeline and maintain our Department of Health compliance paperwork for all staff. Roughly half of your time will be spent supporting the full recruiting cycle, and half maintaining the records, filings, and documentation that keep us audit-ready.

Job Responsibilities:

Recruiting

  • Post openings across Indeed and LinkedIn, leveraging integrations with our HRIS (Paylocity); open, refresh, and close postings as needed
  • Screen applications against minimum qualifications and perform preliminary phone screens to route qualified candidates to appropriate hiring managers
  • Schedule virtual and in-person interviews and paid workplace trials; manage reschedules and no-shows
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates, sending timely status updates and pre- and post-interview communications
  • Prepare offer letters, background check and reference requests, and new-hire paperwork
  • Ensure 100% completion of new hire paperwork according to Department of Health Preschool and SACC program guidelines
  • Maintain the applicant tracking system to reflect accurate stages, appropriate next steps, and notes for every candidate
  • Support onboarding logistics, including onboarding task completion and orientation and first-day scheduling

Compliance

  • Maintain complete, current, and confidential employee files in compliance with Department of Health requirements
  • Gather all required clearance items from new hires during the onboarding process and incorporate their information into the Faculty tracking sheet, including expiration dates
  • Operate with a thorough understanding of DOH requirements according to program type (i.e. Preschool, SACC, Day Camp)
  • Reach out to current staff as needed to renew expiring clearance items, including training modules, medical and immunization forms, and fingerprint clearance
  • Regularly review employee files to ensure 100% compliance ahead of DOH site visits
  • Monitor changes in DOH guidance and escalate to Senior Leadership as needed

What We Offer

  • Flexible Schedule: 25-30 hours per week, specific hours TBD according to candidate availability
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Paid NY Sick Time
  • Pay Rate: $30-35, commensurate with education and experience
Requirements:

Job Qualifications:

Required

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field
  • 2+ years in HR, recruiting, compliance, or a similar administrative role
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and/or recruiting platforms (e.g., LinkedIn Recruiter, Paylocity, Indeed for Employers)
  • Strong Google Suite skills (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and comfort handling confidential information
  • Clear written and verbal communication with candidates and staff at all levels
  • Working knowledge of DOH requirements for preschool and SACC programs, a plus

Skills and Attributes

  • Organized - you can hold 10 open requisitions and 200+ candidate records with ease, knowing individual candidates’ status at any time
  • Detail-oriented - you have a meticulous and methodical approach in reviewing and maintaining employee records to ensure 100% compliance
  • Discreet - you treat personnel data as something to protect, not discuss
  • Proactive - you notice a lapsed fingerprint clearance or an expiring certification before it becomes a problem
  • Process-improving - you work to fix broken workflows rather than continuing to work around them

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds (files, supplies)
  • Work Location: On-site, standard office environment
