Job Description

OVERVIEW

The qualified incumbent will monitor the delinquency status of the bank’s consumer loan portfolio and assist with developing and implementing workout strategies, as necessary. A collections multi-tasker with excellent communication skills will be responsible for the collection of delinquent consumer loans in compliance with Bank procedures as well as state and federal collection regulations.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Account Resolution Specialist will maintain collections contact with borrowers on an on-going basis, documenting all collection efforts within the banks systems in accordance with internal policies/procedures and Fair Debt Collection Practices.

Duties include:

  • Monitor, review and act upon weekly delinquency report for consumer loans including but not limited to residential mortgages, HELOCs, over draft protection lines of credits and consumer credit cards.
  • Contact borrower(s) to discuss delinquent status with all parties responsible for the debt by phone, written correspondence and/or bank office meetings. Call all available phone number to reach the right party to collect on accounts more than 30 days past due.
  • Discuss with the borrower(s) the cause of the delinquency and time frame for anticipated delinquency resolution.
  • Meet with customers in an effort to identify and understand each borrower’s unique situation. Process and submit for approval any customer payment arrangement, hardship modifications and deferral requests.
  • Conducts skip tracing activity to locate the customer.
  • Document all collection efforts and maintain accurate and up-to-date files.
  • Ensure collection letters and all written correspondences include appropriate inserts and information as required by bank policies/procedures and Fair Debt Collection Practices. All collection letters to be submitted to Supervisor for review and approval prior to final issuance.
  • Conduct internal research of loan documentation, payment history and file contents.
  • Conduct external research of property tax balances, appraisal values and liens through Lexis Nexis reports, credit reports, title search reports, and municipal tax collector/assessor websites.
  • Conduct SCRA searches on all delinquent consumer and commercial loan in accordance with SCRA compliance procedures.
  • Assist with impairment calculations.
  • Process loan charge-off forms/memos.
  • Prepare files for submission to bank’s counsel for collection.
  • Monitor externally serviced loans (auto loans and student loans) for delinquencies and inquiry with servicer.
  • Submit service requests to Loan Operations such as fee waivers, payoff requests, etc.
  • Perform other duties as required within Credit and Special Assets area of the bank.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years collections experience

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Familiarity with Fiserv DNA (core operating system), is a plus
