Job Description

Product Owner, Accounting Stack (entire Business Suite)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Owner, Accounting Stack (entire Business Suite) based in United States.

This role sits at the center of a next-generation financial operating system built for high-end business owners and the accountants who support them. You will own the full accounting and finance workflow experience across a deeply integrated product suite, including expense management, invoicing, bill pay, and accounting connectivity. The focus is on building tools that seamlessly connect business and personal financial activity into one coherent system. You will design for controllers, CPAs, bookkeepers, and fractional CFOs who live in accounting software every day. This is a highly cross-functional role where product decisions directly shape financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and user trust. You will operate in a fast-moving environment where shipping quickly and owning outcomes is the standard. The work is both technical and deeply financial, requiring fluency in how real accounting systems operate at scale.

Accountabilities

Own the strategy and end-to-end product experience for the Accounting Stack, ensuring seamless financial operations across business workflows, accounting systems, and user personas. Responsibilities include:

  • Defining product vision and roadmap for accounting connectivity, financial operations, and ERP integrations across systems such as QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct
  • Building and optimizing core accounting workflows including expense management, invoicing, bill pay, and AR/AP reconciliation
  • Designing systems that connect business and personal financial data into a unified experience while maintaining accounting integrity
  • Partnering with engineering and design teams to build scalable, reliable financial infrastructure that minimizes manual reconciliation and operational friction
  • Collaborating with banking, credit, payments, and cards product teams to ensure fully synchronized financial flows across the platform
  • Translating the needs of accountants, controllers, CFOs, and CPAs into clear product requirements and intuitive user experiences
  • Owning integration depth with accounting systems, ensuring accurate data mapping, journal integrity, and audit-ready financial records
  • Driving product decisions based on financial workflows, user behavior, and accounting best practices across multiple business models
  • Acting as the internal voice of accounting users, ensuring product decisions reflect real-world financial operations
Requirements

This role requires a strong blend of product thinking, financial systems understanding, and hands-on familiarity with accounting workflows and platforms. Ideal qualifications include:

  • 4–10+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, fintech, accounting software, or financial systems roles
  • Deep working knowledge of accounting workflows such as accrual vs cash basis, close cycles, journal entries, and audit requirements
  • Hands-on experience with at least two major accounting or ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Acumatica)
  • Proven experience building or integrating products within accounting, fintech, or financial operations ecosystems
  • Strong understanding of accounting personas including bookkeepers, controllers, fractional CFOs, and external CPAs
  • Ability to translate complex financial operations into scalable product requirements and system designs
  • Familiarity with accounting-driven product adoption, especially through CPA or controller influence channels
  • Strong systems thinking and ability to design across interconnected financial workflows and data structures
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical, financial, and business stakeholders
  • Bonus: experience working directly with CPA firms or accounting partner ecosystems
Benefits
  • Remote-first work environment across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia
  • Opportunity to build a category-defining financial operating system for high-growth businesses
  • High-ownership culture focused on speed, autonomy, and direct impact on product direction
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and seniority
  • Exposure to complex financial systems spanning banking, credit, payments, and accounting infrastructure
  • Fast-paced environment with strong emphasis on shipping, iteration, and product excellence
  • Work on deeply technical and financially meaningful problems with real-world impact on business owners
  • Collaborative, low-ego culture centered on high performance and execution
