Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are seeking a Plant Carpenter to construct, repair, and install building frameworks, and structures while following established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. This role will be responsible for light mechanical construction to include basic plumbing and be able to complete a variety of other basic handyman tasks at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials.
  • Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
  • Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
  • Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
  • Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.

Requirements:

    • High school diploma or GED preferred.
    • 4 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry and ability to comprehend schematic diagrams, blueprints, sketches, building plans and other specifications.
    • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.
