POSITION SUMMARY

The Director ofPhilanthropyis a key contributor to the growth of the organizations philanthropic revenue, responsible for developing, executing and optimizing programs that drive donor acquisition, engagement and giving. This role focuses on building a sustainable base of support through strategic management of mid-level donors and leadership of core giving programs.

In close partnership with Foundation leadership and cross-functional team members, this role drives donor identification and early-stage cultivation, leveraging data and insights to identify new opportunities. The position plays a critical role in advancing donor relationships and ensuring a seamless transition of high-capacity donors to major gift portfolios.

The position will be key in focusing on cultivating mid-level donors, with an aim of enhancing donor participation and revenue. The role leads the planning and execution of annual giving and corporate giving strategies, including multi-channel campaigns, appeals and stewardship initiatives, as well as oversight and expansion of the grateful patient program.

The role also supports physician engagement efforts by fostering relationships, promoting philanthropic awareness and facilitating grateful patient referrals. Success in this area includes consistent tracking and growth of referral activity and meaningful collaboration with clinical partners.

This position requires a highly organized, results-oriented professional who can manage multiple priorities, translate strategy into execution and deliver measurable outcomes. The role contributes to a culture of philanthropy by enhancing donor experiences, maintaining accurate and timely documentation of engagement activity, and collaborating effectively across departments.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Donor Portfolio Growth: Proven ability to manage and grow a mid-level donor portfolio with measurable year-over-year increases in giving and engagement
  • Donor Identification & Advancement: Strong capability in identifying, qualifying, and cultivating new donors, with disciplined movement of relationships through stages of engagement and successful handoff of top-tier prospects to major gift portfolio.
  • Program Leadership & Execution: Experience designing and executing annual giving, corporate giving and donor engagement initiatives with clear performance outcomes
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to use donor database data, reporting, and analytics to inform strategy, prioritize efforts and measure success
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage donors, leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Results Orientation: Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed participation, and revenue goals
  • Organization & Accountability: Strong attention to detail with consistent documentation of donor interactions, engagement activity and outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or related field required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:CFRE or similar certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 57 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, or relationship management required.

  • Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of donors or clients with responsibility for revenue growth, retention and engagement.

    • Experience leading or supporting annual giving campaigns, corporate partnerships, or donor engagement programs required.

  • TECHNICAL SKILLS:Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Raisers Edge or similar), Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools required; experience with campaign management platforms and donor analytics tools preferred.

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment & Evaluation Tool.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
