Overview
The VIRGINIA Class Propulsion Plant Fluid Systems and Components department consists of five groups inside three disciples: (1) Reactor Plant and Steam Plant Fluid Systems, (2) Steam Valves and Heat Exchangers and Pump Engineered Components, and (3) Test Equipment. These groups are cognizant over respective piping systems, components, or test equipment assemblies and responsible for developing sound technical solutions to emerging construction and test problems arising at new construction shipyards. This position bolsters support at the Quonset Point facility for propulsion plant system and component work.
Responsibilities of this position may include:
- Proactive engagement with Quonset Point Operations, Inspection, and Test organizations to overcome barriers and avoid potential pitfalls to ensure first-time quality and on-time completion of work,
- Developing technical rationale and sound engineered work direction to maximize material availability, maintain construction momentum, and drive on-time delivery of modules.
- Continuous communication with department personnel and supervision located at the Groton shipyard.
Engineers hired under this position will be primarily located at the Quonset Point facility after an onboarding period splitting time between Quonset Point and the Groton shipyard.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering
- 0-5 years of professional, post-graduate engineering experience
Preferred:
- Bachelor's of Science or higher in Mechanical, Marine, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Submarine operator experience
- 2-5 years of professional, post-graduate engineering experience
- Active DOD Secret clearance
- Prior Naval Nuclear Program experience
