This is a fully remote role with up to 75% travel required within the continental US. Must be able to travel frequently by car and by air.

A day in the life

As an Area Vice President (AVP) at CVRx, you are responsible for building and leading a high-performing, scalable commercial organization that consistently delivers exceptional patient outcomes, accelerates adoption of Barostim Therapy, achieves commercial commitments, develops outstanding leaders, and creates sustainable competitive advantage through disciplined execution and organizational excellence.

Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, an AVP provides strategic leadership for an assigned geographic region and is accountable for achieving commercial and financial objectives by building organizational capabilities through strong operating discipline, hiring and developing exceptional talent, leadership development, and cross-functional collaboration. The AVP develops Area Sales Directors and future leaders who consistently execute the company's commercial strategy while fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, coaching, and continuous improvement.

Success in this role is measured not only by business performance, but also by the quality of leadership, hiring decisions, onboarding success, employee development, and organizational health across the region.

The Area Vice President will be accountable for:

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Strategy & Business Leadership

  • Partner with the Chief Revenue Officer to develop and execute regional commercial strategies that drive revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term adoption of Barostim Therapy.
  • Lead execution of annual business plans while achieving or exceeding revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
  • Drive sustainable adoption of Barostim Therapy by expanding and strengthening strategic Barostim Programs within targeted health systems and accounts.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, competitive threats, and evolving customer needs to continuously refine regional strategy.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of heart failure treatment pathways, competitive therapies, reimbursement dynamics, and evolving healthcare delivery models to anticipate market changes and proactively adapt regional strategy.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key physicians, hospital administrators, and health system leaders.
Leadership Development & Organizational Capability
  • Develop high-performing Area Sales Directors through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and ongoing leadership development.
  • Establish clear performance expectations while creating a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Build leadership capability that drives disciplined execution, consistent utilization of commercial tools, standardized business processes, forecasting accuracy, and accountability across all regions while encouraging innovation and local market responsiveness.
  • Conduct regular talent calibration and performance reviews to identify future leaders and proactively address development opportunities.
  • Foster an environment where feedback, coaching, and professional growth are core leadership expectations.

Talent Strategy & Hiring Excellence

  • Own the quality of commercial talent across the assigned region by partnering closely with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources.
  • Drive consistent execution of standardized hiring practices using established Success Profiles and behavioral interviewing methodologies to ensure objective candidate evaluation and selection.
  • Lead selection decisions for Area Sales Directors while partnering on executive-level commercial leadership hiring.
  • Coach hiring managers to improve interviewing effectiveness, selection quality, and decision consistency.
  • Build diverse, high-performing teams while strengthening leadership bench and succession readiness throughout the organization.

Onboarding & Performance Development

  • Ensure new commercial team members achieve proficiency through standardized onboarding, coaching, and performance development while reducing time-to-productivity
  • Partner with Commercial Training to support standardized onboarding and cohort-based development initiatives.
  • Monitor early performance indicators, coaching effectiveness, and time-to-productivity for newly hired employees.
  • Drive retention of top talent through proactive development planning and leadership engagement.

Commercial Execution & Operational Excellence

  • Drive consistent execution of commercial strategy through effective pipeline management, adoption and utilization of commercial tools, standardized business processes, CRM discipline, accurate forecasting, business planning, and performance analytics.
  • Drive consistent utilization of CRM and leading indicator tracking to ensure disciplined opportunity management, pipeline visibility, and forecasting accuracy across the region.
  • Establish consistent business and pipeline reviews, accurate forecasting, coaching, and accountability cadences that reinforce operational excellence across the region.
  • Monitor key performance indicators to identify opportunities, remove barriers, and improve execution across the region.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Manage regional budgets responsibly while optimizing investments to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Ensure consistent execution of the company's commercial operating model while balancing enterprise standards with regional market needs.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner effectively with Marketing, Clinical Affairs, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Talent Acquisition to build sustainable programs, drive deep adoption, and deliver exceptional customer and business outcomes.
  • Represent the voice of the field by communicating customer insights, competitive intelligence, and emerging market trends to executive leadership.
  • Lead organizational change initiatives that improve commercial effectiveness and strengthen overall business performance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience within the medical device, biotechnology, or healthcare industry
  • Demonstrated success leading second-line commercial leaders across geographically dispersed organizations
  • Proven experience commercializing innovative therapies requiring physician adoption, multidisciplinary collaboration, reimbursement navigation, and long sales cycles
  • Demonstrated success recruiting, developing, coaching, and retaining high-performing commercial leaders
  • Experience driving organizational change and building leadership capability.
  • Experience building scalable commercial operating models and improving commercial execution.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare economics, reimbursement, Integrated Delivery Networks, and hospital purchasing environments
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms (Salesforce.com preferred), commercial analytics, forecasting tools, and business planning processes
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's, or equivalent) preferred
  • Prior experience with devices intended for the treatment of heart failure (HF)
  • High growth or startup company experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Reliable home office technology and privacy commitments
  • Ability to travel by car and/or air 60–75% of the time
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth commercial environment

Salary range for U.S locations (USD): 270,000 - 283,000

The base salary range is applicable across the U.S., complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and specific location.

In addition to Base Salary, this position is eligible for a Variable Incentive Plan (VIP) which provides the opportunity to earn additional variable compensation for meeting established objectives as outlined during first 30 days of employment.
