Job Description
The Dental Finishing Technician performs detailed, hands-on finishing work on AvaDent dental products. This position requires excellent hand-eye coordination, patience, visual attention to small details, and an artistic sense for shape, contour, texture, appearance, and overall quality.
Dental laboratory experience is helpful but not required. AvaDent can train the right individual. Candidates with backgrounds that require precise handwork and an artistic eye - including nail technology, art, jewelry making, model making, cosmetology, crafts, or similar detailed work - may be well suited for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform detailed finishing, shaping, smoothing, polishing, texturing, cleaning, and related handwork on dental products.
- Use hand tools, rotary tools, polishing equipment, and other finishing equipment after appropriate training.
- Follow product specifications, work instructions, samples, and quality standards.
- Visually inspect work for small imperfections, surface quality, contour, symmetry, consistency, and overall appearance.
- Make careful adjustments while protecting critical product dimensions and features.
- Maintain consistent workmanship across repetitive production while preserving attention to detail.
- Handle products carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or unnecessary rework.
- Identify defects or questionable work and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation and properly care for tools and equipment.
- Accurately complete required production documentation.
- Work with supervisors and other production team members to meet quality and daily production requirements.
- Learn additional finishing techniques and processes as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Strong fine-motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Excellent attention to very small details.
- Patience and ability to perform precise, repetitive handwork.
- Good visual judgment and an appreciation for shape, symmetry, texture, and appearance.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to learn specialized tools, materials, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality and productivity.
Preferred Backgrounds
- Dental laboratory or dental finishing experience.
- Nail technician or nail artist.
- Artist, sculptor, painter, craftsperson, or model maker.
- Jewelry making, engraving, watch repair, or other precision handwork.
- Cosmetology or other work requiring fine hand skills and aesthetic judgment.
- Manufacturing or assembly work involving small parts and detailed inspection.
