Job Description
Reports to the Applications Manager and monitors the daily function of the film/image areas and PACS worklist. Interacts with physicians and associates to locate images and/or reports.

PACS Analyst Duties:
- Assists in PACS workstation troubleshooting and downtime processes.
- Ensures database integrity by assisting in quality control of digital patient data.
- Working with HIM to clean up duplicate patients.
- Provides support to all Radiology staff as a resource for PACS workstation troubleshooting.
- Functions as support person for PC/network applications in Radiology, getting users in contact with the Help Desk.
- Notifies PACS Administrator, PACS vendors and/or PACS team members of systems errors.
- Provides assistance to departments outside of Radiology with regards to image viewing stations and PACS related software.
- Assists PACS Administrator with the verifications and validation on all upgrades, keeping detailed records of testing completed and any issues that arise.
- Identifies software/hardware support issues to ensure effective and timely resolutions, notifying PACS Administrator.
- Researches reported/discovered problems thoroughly before resolutions is implemented to assure that problems are concluded effectively without adverse affects on other data, software or users.
- Prioritizes problems/work for effective and timely resolutions.
- Using various computer software and equipment pertinent to Radiology Support Services.
- Assisting physicians and team members on the use of workstations and web based products.
- Providing routine information to other department personnel.
- Maintaining and building effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Performing duties in accordance with department policies, procedures, and operations.
End User Training:
- Trains physicians/associates/Radiologist on all PACS related software. (all physicians at orientation to Beacon).
- Oversees all clerical staff's yearly certifications (Mammography and Radiology).
- Helps to design training tools for systems to address any training needs, updated as needed.
- Gets training from PACS Administrator on new applications and is able to function as a train the trainer for other staff.
- Keeps all upgrades and Imaging system documentation up to date for installs and upgrades.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department:
- Completes other job-related duties and projects assigned by PACS Administrator, Imaging Manager or Radiology Directors.
Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of medical office or imaging experience, as it relates to radiology, is required. Must understand basic anatomy, radiology terminology, and have computer skills. Experience in a radiology environment is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrates the interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
- Requires proficient computer skills to complete work assignments accurately and in a reasonable amount of time.
- Requires the skills necessary to use anatomy and radiology terminology; and the knowledge of medical abbreviations and their meanings.
- Requires the ability to use good judgment to make proper decisions using Beacon and departmental policies and procedures as a guide.
- Requires the effective phone usage skills necessary to process and relay information accurately.
- Working knowledge of Beacon standard software packages preferred.
- Training and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Technical computer troubleshooting skills.
- Must be detailed-oriented, have good communications and inter-personal skills, and display strong team member skills.
- Understanding of testing and quality control.
Working Conditions
- Works in an office environment with some possible mental/visual fatigue.
Physical Demands
- Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position.
