About This Position
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The System VP/Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Bryan Health System. Responsibilities encompass board support, CEO projects, Executive Team coordination, resource allocation and enterprise risk management.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
- *Collaborates with executives to develop and implement strategic plans, policies and organizational goals.
- *Participates in high-level decision making processes that shape the future direction of the Bryan Health system.
- Assists the CEO in carrying out plans and projects assigned by the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.
- *Coordinates agendas and leads Executive Team meetings and retreats.
- *Implements EOS-type processes to create and effective cadence of information flow, project review and accountability.
- Creates reporting processes for the Board and Executive Team that allow proper accountability, insight and foresight.
- *Oversees effective allocation of resources to optimize operational and strategic plans.
- *Fosters a culture of resource stewardship and cost-effectiveness.
- *Leads Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function, including risk assessment, risk appetite and risk mitigation.
- Serves as staff support for the Board and Board Committees with respect to agendas, self-assessments, consistent orientation and meeting materials, education topics, etc.
- Carries out projects assigned by the Board and/or the CEO.
- *Prepares regular reports for the CEO and Board of Directors.
- *Communicates organizational updates, achievements, and challenges effectively.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of hospital administrative policies, philosophies and principles.
- Knowledge of customer service philosophies and practices.
- Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.
- Ability to arbitrate and communicate confidential and sensitive situations.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with other Health System personnel, regulatory agencies and community representatives.
- Ability to make operational and management decisions in response to changing conditions and in emergencies.
- Ability to make professional and administrative decisions within the framework of Bryan’s mission, facility policies and procedures, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Advanced degree or comparable professional designation required. Minimum of five (5) years in an executive position required. Prior healthcare experience required.
