JOB SUMMARY
- Provides direct and indirect patient care in the hospital setting, emergency department and patient transfer settings. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility with a minimum of supervision. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge & Experience
  - Skills-
    - Demonstrates ability to complete applicable competencies
    - Demonstrates ability to give and follow instructions accurately
    - Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various health care personnel, law enforcement, fire personnel and bystanders
    - Must possess and maintain a valid Operator’s License from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles with a clean driving record
    - The employee must be 21 or older to drive RMH vehicles and have a driving record that is eligible to meet the satisfactory driving record standard conducted during the background check.
    - The applicant's job offer is contingent on eligibility and if the applicant does not have a valid driver's license or has a driving record that falls at or below the criteria, the applicant will not be hired for positions where driving is an essential job function.
  - Knowledge-
    - Basic Emergency Medical Technician curriculum and contents
  - Education-
    - High school diploma or equivalent
    - Must have successfully completed an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program
    - Must hold certification from the Indiana State Emergency Medical Services Commission as an Emergency Medical Technician
    - Must have successfully completed American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support course
  - Experience-
    - A minimum of 1 year of previous Emergency Medical Services experience preferred
- Authority and Accountability
  - Extensive exposure to confidential information or matters
  - Frequent contact with various persons or groups within and outside of the hospital including employees, healthcare personnel, physicians, patients, volunteers, visitors and outside agency personnel
  - Must be able to work with and communicate with different types of people
- Aptitudes
  - Must be able to prioritize, utilize critical thinking, and adjust to change
  - Must be able to reason and use logical problem-solving skills
  - Performs duties that require some latitude for independent judgment and initiative in handling situations out of the ordinary
