About This Position
The Title Assistant performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties to support Title Officers in the completion of title orders. Responsibilities include locating, recording, posting, and computing information used in title processing, as well as organizing, filing, retrieving, and updating title-related materials such as legal documents, reports, maps, and files. The position maintains a high standard of professionalism and timeliness in all work, communication, and interactions with customers and team members.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Proofread documents for accuracy and completeness; identify and correct errors or omissions.
- Research and record documents; manage the recording process efficiently.
- Perform administrative tasks to support title operations, including answering phone inquiries, delivering documents, typing, filing, duplicating, and maintaining workflow.
- Set up or cancel escrow/title files, including filing deposits and relevant documentation.
- Research and compile property profile information such as chain of title, tax statements, assessments, plat maps, demographics, legal descriptions, and parcel numbers.
- Provide general support to the title department to maintain operational efficiency.
- Prepare accurate reports, including verifying updated chains of title, waiving or adding objections, and listing appropriate endorsements to avoid claims.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues related to title clearance.
- Interpret and explain sections of the title report to customers.
- Verify legal descriptions (metes and bounds / lot and block) by researching property, address, and ownership; may revise maps and plats to ensure accurate property identification.
- Communicate effectively with company employees and customers via phone, in person, or written correspondence.

Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass an MVR and background check.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
