Job Title: Front Range Program Coordinator

Location: Denver, CO

Reports to: Operations & Volunteer Manager

Salary: $23/hr

Employment Term: Full-time, seasonal

Start Date: Sept 1, 2025

Position Type: In-person

Who We Are

At SOS Outreach, we believe that belonging starts on the mountain and lasts a lifetime. We’re a passionate team using the outdoors as a platform to mentor youth, build character, and create space for every young person to show up as their full selves. Whether it’s carving down a slope, hitting the trail, or leading a community project—our participants learn what they’re capable of.

Since 1993, we’ve served over 80,000 youth across 9 states and 15 communities, with programs rooted in outdoor adventure, positive adult mentorship, and leadership development. Our programs aren’t just about skiing or snowboarding—they’re about helping young people develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose.

Our Commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

We’re proud to be building a justice-centered organization where people from all backgrounds are welcomed and valued. Our team deeply believes in equity, representation, and cultural responsiveness—and we’re committed to doing the work, both with our youth and one another. If you care about social justice, community, and youth development—we want to meet you.

Program Coordinator Overview

As the Program Coordinator, you’ll lead SOS Outreach’s Learn to Ride and SnowCore Program in Denver, serving as the key connector between youth, schools, volunteers, and mountain partners. You’ll manage logistics, facilitate programming, and create life-changing experiences for young people—most of whom are hitting the slopes for the first time. You’ll have potential to support our Mentor Program and work within our Denver and Summit staff teams to bring our mission to life.

This is a hands-on role with impact built into every day—from prepping gear to empowering youth to take on new challenges. You’ll be part of a supportive and driven team that knows the power of youth development and fresh mountain air.

What You’ll Do
  • Program Management and Facilitation

    • Lead planning and execution of the Learn to Ride and SnowCore programs: logistics, registration, scheduling, communication, and evaluation

    • Coordinate with youth agencies, schools, and families to ensure program success

    • Collect and track data using Civicore (registrations, attendance, evaluations, fee-for-service)

    • Manage soft goods/gear: pack, organize, and distribute equipment for on-hill days

    • Assist with in-person program days (primarily weekends) and attend Mentor Program activities

    • Support curriculum delivery and maintain alignment with program goals

    • Support at workshops and service projects for Mentor Program participants (as needed)

  • Volunteer Management

    • Recruit, train, and engage volunteers for program delivery and support

    • Foster ongoing relationships and ensure consistent volunteer communication

  • Partner and Community Engagement

    • Under guidance from lead staff, maintain strong relationships with ski schools, gear partners, and community stakeholders

    • Conduct outreach to support youth and volunteer recruitment

You’ll Also…
  • Stay current on best practices in youth development and outdoor education

  • Assist with program documentation, media collection, and storytelling

  • Collaborate with Summit and Eagle County teams

  • Represent SOS at local events and community engagement opportunities

  • Contribute to an inclusive, equity-driven workplace culture

What You Bring

We know great candidates might not check every box—and we value lived experience just as much as formal credentials. If you’re passionate about mentoring youth and ready to get your hands dirty (or snowy), we want to hear from you.

Must-Haves:
  • At least one year of experience in youth development, outdoor education, or program implementation

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Comfort working with youth and diverse stakeholders

  • Valid Driver’s License and willingness to drive in mountain conditions

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends

  • Passion for SOS Outreach’s mission and values

Bonus Points for:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English ($1/hr pay bump for fluency)

  • Proficiency with Google Suite and online platforms like Civicore

  • Snowboarding/skiing experience and knowledge of mountain safety

  • Experience leading groups in an outdoor setting

  • Familiarity with volunteer engagement or community organizing

  • Commitment to equity and working through a race equity lens

Physical Aspects of the Role

This job will keep you moving. You’ll need to:

  • Travel around your service area (including mountain towns)

  • Sit at a computer for periods of time

  • Lift up to 50 pounds (gear bins, supplies)

  • Speak in front of groups and lead sessions

  • Spend time outdoors in winter and alpine environments

Compensation & Perks

This is a full-time, seasonal, hourly position based out of our Denver (Wheat Ridge) office. The role runs from Sept 1 to April 30, with a Monday–Friday (Wednesday–Sunday in the winter) schedule and some evenings.

Perks include:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Paid holidays and vacation time

  • Retirement match

  • Industry pro deals

  • Vail Resorts season pass

  • A team that values growth and belonging

How to Apply

We’d love to meet you. Visit https://sosoutreach.org/careers/ to learn more and submit your application. Priority deadline: July 31st, but we’ll keep the role open until filled. We’ll start reaching out to candidates the week of August 1st.
