PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Provision of treatments, therapies including medication, to patients of all ages in accordance with physician written orders and in accordance with the organization and department policies and procedures. Has knowledge and training to apply special equipment and techniques in a manner that provides positive patient outcome. Has knowledge and training to assess patients for respiratory care needs and support, and ability to assess treatment or therapy outcome.
Properly, skillfully, and safely operates all equipment including but not limited to oxygen delivery, nebulizer therapy, Ventilator care, BIPAP use, percussive techniques, and sputum induction; appropriate to the assessment of the patient including age and condition.
Provision of medications to patients of all ages in accordance with the physician written order. Demonstrates knowledge of the various medications used in treatment or therapies, their indications and contraindications and proper dosage. Has the ability to assess patient outcomes including recognition of adverse reaction to medications.
Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to recognize and/or suggest alternative treatment or therapy modalities to physicians based upon assessment of the patient. the assessment of the patient including age and condition.
Performs cardiopulmonary procedures upon patients with suspected deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Performs calibration, maintenance, and quality control procedures. Monitors oxygen therapy on the General Floors. Performs and ECGs on adult and pediatric patients. Performs Arterial Blood Gas acquisition and analysis. Administers testing procedures in a cost-effective manner; and in accordance with physicians written orders, protocols, and clinical pathways. Administers respiratory care treatments and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of Physician by prescription. May recommend, evaluate and perform both basic and advanced respiratory care procedures by performing the following duties.
