Construction Management Summer Internship 2026

Location: Columbia, MO and/or Kansas City, MO

Dates: Mid-May to Mid-August 2026 (flexible based on school schedules)

Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Compensation: $22/hour

About the Program

Our Summer Internship Program offers a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at the essential functions of construction management within a leading mechanical contracting firm. Designed for students eager to explore the field, this internship provides meaningful exposure to both estimating and project management—two pillars of our operations.

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real projects, and gain insight into the day-to-day challenges and rewards of the industry. By the end of the summer, you’ll have a clearer sense of your career path and a stronger foundation in construction management.

What You’ll Do

We believe interns thrive when they’re empowered to ask questions, take initiative, and think critically. You’ll rotate through key departments, gaining exposure to both pre-construction and active project execution.

May & June: Estimating Department

1. Review plumbing and mechanical drawings and perform quantity take-offs
2. Contact vendors to gather pricing and product data for active bids
3. Communicate with subcontractors during the bidding process
4. Identify mechanical equipment and compile supporting documentation
5. Assist with paperwork and data entry for ongoing estimates

July & August: Project Management Department

1. Receive, track, and organize RFIs and submittals
2. Help prepare monthly pay applications
3. Support subcontractor invoicing and lien waiver collection
4. Assist with purchase order creation and tracking

What We’re Looking For

1. Students pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
2. Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
3. Detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to contribute
4. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
