Position Overview
The Materials - Laboratory Technician is responsible for the inspection and sampling of raw materials and will support the materials coordinator by performing document control activities and assisting with warehouse activities as well. They will also provide support to Production by analyzing samples for various compounds and components according to internal specifications, client procedures, and miscellaneous research procedures. The Materials - Laboratory Technician will assist with shipping, receiving, and data entry as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct Raw Material/Finished Product testing in accordance with approved Analytical Methods, Raw Material Specifications, and Finished Products Specifications.
- Perform laboratory equipment calibrations.
- Maintain compliant laboratory notebook(s) or forms.
- Review laboratory notebooks or forms of other lab personnel.
- Create and revise Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and/or Certificates of Compliance (CoC).
- Inspect, sample, and submit raw material samples to the laboratory for testing.
- Support document control by performing routine change control activities (Analytical methods, master specifications, master batch records, etc.)
- Ensures compliance with material and manufacturing SOPs.
- Process purchase orders and support cycle count activities and inventory adjustments to maintain accurate ERP inventories.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining training files and training plans.
- Apply status labels to raw materials (Ex. Receiving-Hold labels and disposition labels for approved, waived, rejected, and quarantined materials).
- Stock materials per CPI procedures and government regulations.
- Complete/prepare documentation as required per CPI procedures.
- Assist in the execution of Material Receipt Forms and Shipment Release Forms.
- Follow all CPI safety and cGMP practices, policies, and procedures.
- Employees at CPI work with and/or are familiar with the GMP requirements for Food, Dietary Supplements, Pharmaceuticals, or other elements of each.
- Depending on the position, the employee will be aware of Halal and/or Kosher requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent required; experience may be substituted.
- Thorough understanding of basic laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of various types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and how/when to use it.
- Strong interpersonal communication and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills, including ERP software and Office Suite.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read, write (legibly), and speak the English language necessary for efficient job performance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and/or clients.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs. on a daily basis and up to 55 lbs. occasionally.
