Job Description

Position Summary
    The department secretary provides clerical and administrative support for the Nurse Manager and Clinician/Clinical Nurse Specialist. In addition, the department secretary performs general clerical and administrative duties for the specific nursing unit or service line
Education
    High School Diploma General Studies - Preferred
Experience
    2-3 Years Clerical or experience in a related field - Required
License & Certification
    None Required
Core Job Functions
    Processes biweekly time records for each co-worker in accordance with hospital policy and performs daily maintenance. Maintains confidentiality of co-worker time records. Notifies nurse manager of trends related to clocking in and out, overtime, attendance and punctuality. Coordinates departmental data collection and sends reports to designated personnel. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Supplies are ordered and inventory is maintained within budget guidelines. Answers phone in timely manner with accurate information provided to caller. Completes Payroll per protocol. Maintains appointments and calendar, responds to requests to perform administrative tasks, answers phones and processes purchase requests. Prepare memos, procedures, reports and other correspondence as needed. Answer telephones, relay messages, assist callers or transfer callers as needed. Record minutes and transcribes documentation accurately.
