About This Position
Manages the aquatics facility including start-up, seasonal operations, and winterization. Performs off-season facility maintenance inspections for any building upgrades, safety concerns or hazards, and organizational needs.
Develops, manages, and schedules aquatic programming (e.g., classes, swim meets, swim lessons, lap swimming, youth swim team, and other aquatic/tennis programs) and manages nonaquatic facilities and programs as instructed; resolves customer complaints.
Coordinates programming of swim lessons or other aquatic based programs and/or special events. Evaluates classes utilizing feasibility assessments and recommends program changes. Administers programs including scheduling of staff, equipment and supplies, facility and logistical planning.
Manages seasonal staff, including recruiting and hiring, performance evaluations, staff audits, staff certifications and paperwork, and discipline.
Financial responsibilities include setting and maintaining a fiscally responsible budget, bi-weekly payroll, and daily deposits.
Performs basic office functions including answering phones, program registration, internal scheduling for recreation related events, birthday tent reservations, after hours rentals requests.
Maintains facility operations and water chemistry for all aquatic facilities; ability to operate, trouble shoot and make minor repairs to all aquatics equipment. Stays in communication with the Park Maintenance Supervisor for additional maintenance needs.
Provides positive customer service to users by responding to initial complaints or program issues with public and/or patrons. Uses discretion when escalating issues or complaints to appropriate supervisor or administrator.
Reviews and recommends changes to safety related policies and emergency action plans.
Coordinates and implements American Red Cross training, in-services and re-certification programs for full and part-time Recreation Services staff.
Responsible for the organization and implementation of at least one Recreation Department annual event during off season months.
Administers and/or supports other recreation programs within the Recreation Department.
Evening and weekend availability may be required during peak seasons.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or at least four years of the equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience developing and administering recreational programming
Experience with aquatics management
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and has the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and the ability to deal with problems involving a limited number of distinct tasks and functions in standardized situations
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
Interpersonal Skills
Must demonstrate positive management, communication, leadership and motivational skills. Maintains composure and professionalism under pressure. Sensitive to deadlines and completes work accurately and effectively in a timely manner.
