Job Summary

We are looking for a technically-minded, communicative Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will become the backbone of our Custom Portfolio Solutions (CPS) business, serving as a vital link between our investment strategies and the Financial Advisors who utilize them.

You will spend approximately 60-70% of your time on CPS servicing—ensuring our advisors have the proposals and portfolio support they need—and 30-40% of your time conducting equity and macro research and building the proprietary tools that power our investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

60-70% – Custom Portfolio Solutions (CPS) & Advisory Support

  • Proposal Generation: Utilize internal models to create tailored investment proposals that align with advisor-specific client goals.
  • Portfolio Rebalancing: Execute and monitor rebalancing workflows to ensure custom models stay within risk and allocation targets.
  • Advisor Interaction: Act as a responsive point of contact for financial advisors, answering technical questions regarding portfolio positioning and performance.
  • Request Management: Handle ad-hoc data requests and reporting needs with high accuracy.
  • Project Implementation: Work with cross functional teams to refine workflow processes to maximize efficiency and throughput and minimize errors using agile frameworks.

30-40% – Equity Research & Tool Development

  • Equity Coverage: Take ownership of a specific equity sector or macro decision (assigned based on interest and firm needs), providing fundamental analysis and buy/sell/hold recommendations.
  • Investment Tool Building: Use SQL, Matlab, and VBA to automate repetitive tasks and develop new quantitative tools for the investment team.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain and query internal databases to ensure our research and reporting tools are running on "clean" data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of investment products, asset allocation, and market mechanics.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Progress toward or willingness to pursue the CFA designation is encouraged.

Preferred Requirements

  • Comfortable writing SQL queries or debugging Matlab code
  • Comfortable jumping on a call to explain a portfolio shift to a Financial Advisor.
  • Proficiency in SQL and VBA is highly desired. Experience with Matlab is a major plus (though we value Python or a comparable Language experience as a strong proxy for Matlab proficiency).
  • Ability to look at complex systems and processes, break them down into manageable steps, and can communicate in a way that drives complex processes forward
  • Genuine passion for the markets and the "why" behind stock movements.
  • Willingness to take a position after rigorous research, be accountable for the result and impact, and continuously learn and improve.
