About This Position

About Helix Linear

Helix Linear Technologies designs and manufactures high-precision motion control systems for industries where performance matters most, including aerospace, medical devices, defense, and advanced automation. Our products power mission-critical applications where reliability and precision down to ±0.0001 inches make all the difference.

Our vision is to engineer what's possible in motion, with precision, integrity, and purpose. We pursue that vision by designing, machining, grinding, and assembling critical motion components in-house, including precision ball screws and linear systems. Our clean, climate-controlled facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing equipment, including Citizen Swiss lathes, multi-axis CNC mills, precision grinders, and specialized assembly and test systems.

Helix is growing and investing in new equipment, advanced processes, and the systems required to scale with discipline. As we expand, we're building a world-class precision manufacturing operation, which means higher standards for ownership, communication, urgency, and accountability across every role on the floor.

About the Position

The Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for developing, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes across our precision machining and production environment. You'll work closely with machinists, quality, and design engineering to optimize how we make things, reducing variation, improving throughput, and ensuring every part meets spec.

This role sits at the intersection of the shop floor and the engineering team. You're not just writing documentation, you're on the floor, working problems, building fixtures, and driving real improvements in how we manufacture. If you thrive in a high-mix, low-volume precision environment and like solving problems that don't have easy answers, this role is built for you.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes for precision machined components
  • Troubleshoot machining and production issues; identify root causes and drive permanent corrective actions
  • Design and procure tooling, fixtures, and gauges to improve repeatability and quality
  • Create and maintain standard work instructions, control plans, and process documentation
  • Support new product introductions by collaborating with design engineering on manufacturability and process development
  • Analyze production data to identify variation, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Partner with quality to support inspection planning, GD&T interpretation, and nonconformance resolution
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across machining, production, and assembly operations

What Success Looks Like

  • Process Stability: Within the first 6 months, you've identified key sources of variation in critical machining operations and implemented documented corrective actions
  • Documentation: Standard work, control plans, and process documentation are complete, accurate, and actively used on the floor
  • Troubleshooting: You're the first call when something goes wrong, and problems get resolved, not just managed
  • Collaboration: Engineering, quality, and production trust you and pull you in early on new programs and problems
  • Continuous Improvement: You've driven measurable improvements in throughput, yield, or quality in at least one key process area

Why Join Helix

At Helix, manufacturing isn't just what we do, it's who we are. Our work is built around precision, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

You'll work in a clean, climate-controlled facility with advanced equipment, alongside machinists, engineers, operators, and commercial team members who take pride in their work and hold themselves to high standards.

Helix is building something meaningful, not just high-precision products, but a company defined by integrity, clarity, and disciplined execution in industries where the stakes are high. We engineer with purpose, take ownership of our work, and believe doing things the right way matters.

We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, retirement plans, PTO, and major holidays, along with steady daytime hours and scheduling flexibility to support work–life balance.

If you take pride in solving problems, contributing to a team that values craftsmanship and accountability, and doing work where precision and reliability matter, Helix is a place where your work will truly matter.

Who You Are

  • Hands-on by nature, you're most effective when you're on the floor, not behind a desk
  • Systematic thinker who documents what you learn and builds repeatable solutions
  • Comfortable working directly with machinists and operators, you earn credibility on the floor, not in a conference room
  • Calm under pressure with the discipline to drive problems to resolution
  • Curious and resourceful, you find answers, you don't wait for them

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3+ years in a manufacturing engineering role in a precision or tight-tolerance machining environment
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining processes; turning, milling, grinding (Swiss CNC experience a plus)
  • Proficiency with GD&T and hands-on experience with process validation and measurement systems
  • Experience developing tooling, fixtures, or workholding solutions
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools for fixture design and documentation
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodology experience (a plus)
