About This Position
Perform legal research and writing as requested by attorneys for cases including but not limited to asylum, removal defense, adjustment of status, complex naturalization, family reunification, family-based immigration, Temporary Protected Status, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), Special Immigrant Visas (SIV), Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), employment authorization (work permits), humanitarian parole, and appeals.
Research and draft materials for events and assist at events including Understanding Your Constitutional Protections trainings, community information sessions, legal clinics, and other workshops throughout Western New York or the Southern Tier on relevant immigration topics determined by the immigrant community
Observe client appointments under the supervision of an attorney
Attend trainings to develop a knowledge base in immigration law
Other duties as assigned
The Law Graduate shall not participate in the unauthorized practice of law
- Have a pending admission to the bar or plan to sit for an upcoming bar exam of the bar of the highest court of any state in the country or U.S. territory
- Be able and willing to travel to all counties throughout Western New York or the Southern Tier
- Possess ability to be part of a dedicated team of talented individuals
Possess strong communication (written and oral) skills
