Position Summary
The Director of Behavioral Health Services provides strategic, operational, and people leadership for Optima Medicals integrated Behavioral Health program operating under the Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) model. This role oversees psychiatric providers and services, behavioral health care coordination, and virtual care operations while ensuring quality, compliance, and scalable growth across a primary careembedded model.
Responsibilities
Provide end-to-end leadership of Optima Medicals integrated and virtual Behavioral Health program
Ensure fidelity to the Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) model and clinical workflows
Oversee psychiatric providers, Behavioral Health Care Coordinators (BHCs), managers, and operational leadership
Lead integration of behavioral health services within primary care workflows
Establish clear ownership of medication management, escalation pathways, and clinical decision-making
Monitor and analyze KPIs related to access, outcomes, engagement, and operational performance
Partner with billing and compliance teams to support CoCM billing and psychiatric E/M documentation
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management of behavioral health leadership
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows, quality, and patient experience
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field
5+ years of leadership experience in behavioral health operations, integrated care, or primary care settings
Direct experience with Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) models
Strong understanding of psychiatric provider workflows and measurement-based care
Proven people-leadership experience managing managers and multidisciplinary teams
Experience with virtual or telehealth behavioral health services preferred
Familiarity with CMS CoCM billing (9949299494) and psychiatric E/M coding preferred
