About This Position

RahrBSG is looking for a Logistics Operations Specialist to join our team in Shakopee, MN. The Logistics Operations Specialist manages the logistical aspects of ongoing loads and projects and serves as liaison between the Customer Service, Distribution and Supply Chain Teams. They ensure accurate levels of product are shipped according to customer orders and delivery requirements in the most efficient manner. This position is also responsible for serving as a liaison with a variety of parties including for-hire transport companies, government agencies, storage facilities, customers, and cross functionally within RahrBSG. Uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and improve logistics processes to optimize efficiency and reduce costs for the company and the customer.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute shipment logistics from order release through final delivery, meeting service, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Selects, tenders, and manages for‑hire carriers; plans and optimizes loads using BSG systems and the e2Open TMS.
  • Coordinates delivery appointments and priorities to support on‑time, in‑full performance.
  • Monitors shipment milestones and proactively identify risks or disruptions.
  • Communicates shipment status, delays, and exceptions to Customer Service, Warehouse, Supply Chain teams, carriers, and customers.
  • Leads regular coordination calls with Warehouse, Supply Chain, Finance and Customer Service to improve execution and processes.
  • Reviews carrier documentation, shipment updates, and delivery confirmations.
  • Resolves daily execution issues, including missed pickups, service failures, damage, accessorial, and freight discrepancies.
  • Reviews freight invoices and accessorial charges; partners with Finance and carriers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Supports service improvement initiatives through root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • At times, leads or participates in continuous improvement initiatives and cross‑functional projects to enhance service, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Maintains SOPs and recommends process improvements to improve efficiency, service, and cost.
  • Tracks KPIs and identifies opportunities for service and cost optimization.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external carrier partners.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the company and its operational needs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution operations.
  • Experience working within a Transportation Management System (ex. e2Open).
  • Experience managing LTL, TL, parcel and intermodal transportation.
  • Experience working with ERP and supply chain systems (Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, JDA, or similar platforms).

  • Strong understanding of transportation and logistics principles and operations.
  • Ability to make real‑time operational decisions that balance service, cost, and execution risk.
  • Analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, execution‑focused environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics technology platforms.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
