About This Position

Job purpose

Responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes for metal components used in military, aerospace, energy, and industrial applications. The Manufacturing Process Engineer supports the engineering and production teams by establishing and improving processes for casting, heat treating, machining, and grinding operations.

This role supports new production launches and post-launch production activities by developing process requirements, manufacturing documentation, and process controls to ensure efficient and repeatable production. The Manufacturing Process Engineer works closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet product specifications, customer requirements, and operational goals.

Supports continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing production data, identifying process improvement opportunities, and implementing corrective actions to enhance product quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. Some travel may be required to support supplier development, process validation, and project implementation activities.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for metal components including casting, heat treatment, machining, and grinding operations.
  • Support new product launches by developing process flow, manufacturing routing, work instructions, and tooling requirements.
  • Analyze production processes to improve yield, throughput, and overall manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide engineering support to production teams to troubleshoot process issues and reduce scrap or rework.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including process sheets, standard work instructions, and process control plans.
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to ensure manufacturing processes meet customer specifications and product requirements.
  • Assist with root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations related to manufacturing issues, scrap, or process deviations.
  • Define process parameters and operating standards for casting, heat treatment furnaces, machining, and grinding operations.
  • Support supplier development activities by assisting with manufacturing process requirements and technical evaluations.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities using Lean Manufacturing and process optimization techniques.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to production personnel to ensure consistent process execution.
  • Participate in equipment selection, process validation, and implementation of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Assist with production training related to manufacturing processes and operational best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering discipline or 5 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and understand product drawings & GD&T.
  • Proficiency with computers and software programs including Microsoft Office ( Word/ PowerPoint/ Excel)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and interact well with all levels of personnel.
  • Have excellent decision-making, communication and organizational skills.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously and have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Strong personal organization and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Accomplished presentation skills, with ability to effectively present ideas to personnel at all levels within the organization.

Working conditions

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Some day or overnight travel both domestically and abroad.
  • Could work in areas with excessive noise or other manufacturing related hazards. NOTE: Proper PPE will be provided
