POSITION: Redeemer Brooklyn Children’s Ministry Coordinator
JOB BAND: 5
RATE: $22.50 – $25 per hour
DEPARTMENT: RBK Children’s Ministry
REPORTS TO: RBK Manager of Children’s Ministry
DATE: Immediate
HOURS WORKED: Part-time (15-20 hrs/week); must work Sundays and occasional evenings
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sunday Operations
- In preparation for each Sunday, order necessary supplies for Kids ministry and other CM events
- Occasionally draft lesson plans and create craft for each age group, according to their skills and developmental readiness
- Assist CM Manager with Sunday operations for Kids Ministry
- Oversee orientation of volunteers upon arrival
- Be versed with check-in table/tech
- Train and assist volunteers with the setup of each classroom according to age group
- Coordinate with Sunday setup and teardown teams regarding proper classroom arrangements, ensuring kids supply bins are brought from and returned to the proper storage closets, and classrooms are reset according to original City Tech setup
- Lead and facilitate the delivery of classroom curriculum during Sunday School as needed
- Be familiar with (and execute if necessary) the lesson plans, songs, and activities
- Be the primary Point Person in the absence of the CM Manager, or during Sunday rotation when CM Manager attends Sunday service
Volunteer Management
- Troubleshoot staff and volunteer issues with CM Manager
- Recruit, interview, and train volunteers alongside CM Manager
- Manage the Sunday volunteer schedule and communications weekly
- Assist CM Manager with the volunteer onboarding process including answering volunteer inquiries, emailing application materials, running background checks, scheduling interviews, etc
- Schedule and assist in annual volunteer training with CM Manager
- Confirm volunteers have reviewed and are updated with policies and procedures
- Manage the volunteer list in Planning Center, making sure background checks are up to date
- Maintain and coordinate volunteer assignments on Planning Center to ensure all RBK Kids classes are properly staffed for Sundays
- Manage Volunteer calendar through Planning Center
Administrative Support
- Understand the Planning Center database, helping to ensure the accuracy of family information in the system
- Assist in managing class rosters and update with new families
- Create registrations for applicable events
- Create workflows for various areas within the CM ministry
Communications
- Assist CM Manager with communication regarding upcoming RBK Kids events, and parents as needed
- Communicate with volunteers with any assignment changes or Sunday needs
Miscellaneous
- Attend weekly virtual (occasionally in person) 1:1 meetings with the CM Manager.
- Attend monthly in-person staff meetings
- Provide event planning support and execution for all RBK Kids and Family events alongside CM Manager
- Living in or having community in Brooklyn a plus
- Available to assist in family oriented events after church and church-related holiday events

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Heart for God and discipling children, to instill a biblical worldview
- Need to support and be in alignment with the core theological principles of RBK, including its vision and ministry values
- Warm and engaging personality that is welcoming to parents and children.
- Desire to know and interact with families and children
- Children’s Ministry experience a plus
- High capacity for working on multiple projects and towards multiple goals at once
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Have previous experience in an administrative role. Ability to think proactively and anticipate and meet administrative needs
- Experience in planning and executing events a plus
- Proficient in Google Suite, MS Office applications, and Canva
