Pediatric Therapy of Aiken – A+Kids is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Early Intervention Specialist to serve children and families throughout Aiken County, South Carolina.
In this rewarding role, you’ll work with infants and young children from birth through age 6, providing individualized, evidence-based developmental support in children’s natural environments. Position Overview
The Early Intervention Specialist provides developmental services to children birth through age 6 who may have developmental delays, disabilities, or other needs affecting their development.
You’ll work directly with children, parents, and caregivers to identify developmental needs, establish individualized goals, implement intervention strategies, and monitor progress.
Services are primarily provided in natural environments throughout Aiken County, including children’s homes and community settings.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently while also being part of a collaborative pediatric team.
Early Intervention Specialist Responsibilities
As an Early Intervention Specialist with A+Kids, you will:
* Conduct developmental assessments, screenings, and ongoing evaluations
* Identify developmental strengths, needs, and areas for intervention
* Develop and implement individualized intervention plans
* Provide evidence-based developmental strategies appropriate for each child’s needs
* Deliver family-centered early intervention services in natural environments
* Coach and educate parents and caregivers on strategies they can incorporate into everyday routines
* Monitor children’s developmental progress and adjust intervention strategies as appropriate
* Collaborate with families, caregivers, therapists, educators, service coordinators, and other professionals
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits, progress, outcomes, and service plans
* Complete required reports and program documentation
* Maintain compliance with applicable state, program, and organizational requirements
* Participate in professional development and team initiatives
* Maintain professional communication with families and interdisciplinary team members
Required Qualifications
A 4-year bachelor’s degree is REQUIRED for this position.
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas or a closely related field:
* Child Development
* Human Development
* Early Childhood Education
* Elementary Education
* Special Education
* Psychology
* Sociology
* Social Work
* Other related bachelor’s degrees may be considered with appropriate approval
Candidates must also have:
* Valid driver’s license
* Reliable transportation
* Ability and willingness to travel throughout Aiken County
* Ability to commute to or relocate to Aiken, SC before starting the position
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively with young children and their families
* Strong organization and time-management skills
* Ability to complete documentation accurately and on time
Preferred Qualifications
While previous experience is valued, candidates with the appropriate educational background are encouraged to apply.
Preferred experience includes:
* 1+ year of Early Intervention experience
* Early childhood development experience
* Pediatric experience
* Behavioral health experience
* Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities
* Experience providing services in homes or community settings
* Experience providing parent or caregiver education
* Familiarity with developmental assessments and individualized service plans
