About This Position
Key Responsibilities:• Operate side-load and roll-off trucks to collect waste and recyclables from residential customers as well as safely operate roll off trucks to deliver, pick up, and haul containers• Serve as a relief or "swing" driver, filling in for assigned routes across different service areas as needed• Place roll off containers accurately at customer locations as needed• Transport debris, construction waste, and materials for disposal or recycling facilities• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation• Follow assigned route schedules, communicate route changes or issue to dispatch• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently using proper lifting techniques• Provide courteous and professional service to customers• Maintain accurate route logs, pick-up records, and any required reports• Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards
Education & Experience:
• High school or GED required
• Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience operating Class B vehicles (waste industry experience preferred)
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B) with air brake endorsement required DOT medical certification
• Experience operating side-load and roll-off trucks strongly preferred
• Familiarity with DOT regulations, basic vehicle inspections, and safety compliance standards
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and adherence to operational procedures
• Exhibits flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing routes and assignments daily
• Maintains a positive attitude and professional demeanor when interacting with customers, coworkers, and supervisors
• Displays dependability through consistent attendance, punctuality, and accountability for assigned duties
• Possesses strong attention to detail, especially in completing logs, vehicle inspections, and route documentation
• Works well independently and as part of a team, managing time and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance
• Ability to enter and exit commercial trucks multiple times per day
• Must be able to operate vehicle controls and perform repetitive hand, foot, and eye coordination tasks safely
• Requires sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate vehicles and respond to surrounding traffic and environmental cues
• Must be able to work extended hours, including early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekends/holidays
