About This Position
At ERD, our Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs) play a critical role in keeping healthcare environments safe, operational, and ready to serve patients.
As a BMET I / Field Service Technician, you’ll begin building your career in healthcare technology through hands-on experience across hospitals, surgical centers, and clinical environments. This is a field-based role where no two days are the same. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians to support preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment repairs, and installations.
This position is ideal for someone who is technically curious, self-motivated, and eager to grow in a fast-paced, real-world environment.
At ERD, you won’t be stuck on a bench - you’ll be out in the field, learning directly on equipment that impacts patient care. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of medical devices, including systems used in surgical suites and sterile processing departments, while developing both your technical and customer-facing skills.
Technicians support our clients through preventive maintenance, service response, equipment evaluations, and clinical staff interaction, all while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Requirements: Job Requirements (BMET I / Field Service Technician)- Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience or training)
- 0–2 years of experience in biomedical equipment, electronics, mechanical repair, or a related technical field
- Strong interest in field service work and healthcare environments
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems
- Ability to troubleshoot issues using logical, step-by-step problem-solving
- Strong work ethic with a self-motivated and dependable mindset
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians and leadership
- Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clinical staff
- Comfortable working in multiple facilities and adapting to different environments
- Basic computer skills for documentation, service reports, and communication
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and meet hospital credentialing requirements
This role involves working in a variety of healthcare environments, including hospitals, surgical centers, and clinical facilities. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to:
- Mechanical and electrical systems
- Moderate noise levels and equipment vibration
- Variable temperatures and conditions
- Clinical environments where proper PPE is required
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work in tight or confined spaces when necessary
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and test equipment
