JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- Provides safe and high-quality nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Clinician. Assists and performs advanced modalities such as negative pressure wound therapy, compression therapy and post-debridement care. Maintains an accurate patient electronic medical record, assists with non-invasive and invasive departmental procedures and associated care coordination.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- Samaritan Wound Care treats acute or chronic wounds caused by diabetes, surgery, injury, poor blood flow and/or other problems. The scope of practice is physician driven and centered around wound, ostomy and continence care while maintaining additional adjunctive therapies such as vein medicine and hyperbaric medicine.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Current unencumbered Oregon Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure required.
- Healthcare Provider BLS required.
- Related certification in Wound Care preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Wound Care experience preferred.

- Medical Terminology - Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology. Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. Thorough knowledge of medical/legal obligations.
- Social Perceptiveness - Ability to work with a diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers. Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a nonjudgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
