About This Position

Description:

Springs Nursing & Rehab Center is looking for an Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of the long-term care community. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality resident care while maintaining regulatory compliance, financial stability, and a positive culture for residents, families, and staff. The Executive Director provides visionary leadership and is ultimately accountable for clinical quality, employee engagement, resident satisfaction, and business outcomes.

This position is located in Hot Springs, VA.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for all aspects of facility operations, including clinical services, administration, finance, human resources, and environmental services.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing long-term care facilities.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of resident care, safety, dignity, and quality of life.
  • Lead, coach, and develop department heads and management staff to achieve organizational goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial performance, census development, and cost controls to ensure financial viability.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with residents, families, physicians, governing bodies, and external partners.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture that supports staff engagement, accountability, and retention.
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives to continuously enhance outcomes.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with organizational mission and values.
  • Respond effectively to surveys, audits, complaints, and risk management issues
  • Coach, teach and mentor.
  • Assist staff in planning and conducting ongoing training programs to assure that current material and programs are continuously provided.
  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings and stand-down with all department heads for communication
  • Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of changes in the long-term care field, as well as to maintain professional status.
  • Serve on and/or chair various committees within the facility (e.g. Resident Care Committee, Quality Assurance, and Resident Council) and provide written/oral reports as directed or as necessary.
  • Support LHMSH culture by promoting “Friendly, Positive, and Focused on Excellence”.
  • Protect the legal, financial, and moral well-being of Larry H. Miller Senior Health.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior living, long-term care, or healthcare management, with at least 3 years in an executive leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal senior care regulations.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial management, and staff development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Active State-specific licensure for Nursing Home Administration (LNHA).

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, kneel, crouch, stretch, twist, lift, and move about.
  • Required vision includes close, vision, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to carefully consider all information and make impacting decisions on a regular basis.
  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.
  • The job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Time Management: The ability to integrate methods of time management to ensure the needs of residents are met, regular day to day tasks are completed while balancing any urgent situations that may arise.
  • Active Listening: Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
