The Regional Manager of Operations is responsible for implementing and executing client-specific facility services programs across assigned accounts within a defined geographic region. This role supports critical business functions including site-level project scopes, customer retention, quality assurance, and delivering a consistent client experience. The Regional Manager partners closely with field leadership, providing direct oversight, coaching, and support to site managers, while also assisting with onboarding and training of operational staff. This position is accountable for day-to-day operational performance and managing a portfolio of accounts within their territory.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Consistently provide a clean, secure, and safe environment for the occupants of your customers buildings, as well as Interstate associates.
- Be able to build and maintain relationships with customers and janitorial services team members.
- Attend prospective client walk throughs and provide information and assistance throughout RFP process.
- Manage staffing levels, work schedules, cleaning plans, time & attendance records, submit payroll and adhere to labor and supply budgets.
- Effectively and cost efficiently execute the cleaning plan for each of the Manager’s buildings and territory facilities.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, develop, discipline, and motivate your management, supervisory and cleaning staff.
- Manage and control company equipment, supplies and materials inventory.
- Manage spending to achieve P&L goals for each account.
- Regularly inspect buildings to ensure cleanliness, secure and safe operations.
- Travel to out-of-state sites to support management and assure customer satisfaction.
- Assist with new customer startups, ensuring scope of work has been completed.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through clear expectations and proactive communications.
- Respond very promptly to customer requests and concerns.
- Identify revenue growth opportunities and retain accounts with high-quality service and relationships.
- Communicate to Director of Operations of unusual conditions, unfulfilled commitments, unsolved identified problems, or other situations that may cause customer dissatisfaction.
- Support and assist operations managers in building start-ups, recruiting, and hiring and sharing resources.
- Coordinate, schedule and perform all special project work for assigned building.
- Communicate and work closely with home office to improve the operations and employee experience.
- Responsible for managing disciplines and performance; coordinating with HR for assistance when necessary.
Qualifications:
- 5–8 years of experience in janitorial, commercial cleaning, and/or related service industry operations, with direct supervisory or management experience.
- Strong working knowledge of day-to-day facility services operations, including staffing, scheduling, and quality control.
- Experience managing a workforce primarily comprised of hourly associates, including hiring, coaching, discipline, and retention.
- Ability to review operational data (e.g., labor hours, budgets, inspections) and make practical adjustments to improve performance.
- Experience supporting both field operations and administrative functions, with the ability to balance hands-on involvement and reporting responsibilities.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities within a region.
Travel Requirements:
- Regular travel required within assigned region to support accounts and field teams.
Material and Equipment Used:
- Familiarity with standard cleaning chemicals, supplies, and safety protocols.
- Working knowledge of equipment including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, floor scrubbers, vacuums, and similar janitorial tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and perform bending as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during site visits and inspections.
