Patient Referral Specialist at Valleywise Health System – Phoenix, Arizona

The Patient Referral Specialist plays a key role in keeping care moving smoothly. In this role, they ensure that insurance and benefits are verified quickly and accurately for referral orders involving specialty care, procedures, or diagnostic testing. Serving as the vital link between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies, the Specialist helps streamline the referral process, remove obstacles, and support timely, high-quality patient care. Hourly Pay Rate: $18.24 - $26.90 Qualifications Education:

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with insurance providers or with patient referral processing that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prefer prior healthcare or clinic patient registration and or scheduling experience.

Certification/Licensure:

Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete the fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of the hire date. Must present the actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess good verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills, including basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation knowledge. Requires basic math, data entry, and keyboarding skills. The ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute is desired. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
