The Senior Accountant is responsible for owning core accounting functions and leading the month-end close process for assigned business units. This role supports multiple revenue streams, including subscription billing, project-based (progress and milestone) billing, and product/inventory sales. The position ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, while delivering accurate and timely financial reporting.
This role partners cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems.

- Own and execute the month-end close process for assigned business units, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure completeness and integrity of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating and resolving variances.
- Apply ASC 606 guidance across multiple revenue streams, including subscription-based revenue, project-based billing (percentage-of-completion and milestone), and product/inventory sales.
- Analyze customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
- Partner with billing and operations teams to ensure accurate invoicing and revenue capture.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide actionable insights.
- Support business unit leaders with financial performance analysis and reporting.
- Maintain and review inventory valuation and costing methodologies (e.g., FIFO, weighted average).
- Reconcile inventory subledger to general ledger and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory reserves and adjustments.
- Reconcile bank accounts and support cash flow tracking.
- Review and code transactions from expense management systems (e.g., RAMP) for proper general ledger classification.
- Prepare and review sales tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state and local tax regulations for services, subscriptions, and product sales.
- Support audits and nexus assessments as needed.
- Support the annual financial statement review (external accountant review) for assigned business units.
- Prepare supporting schedules and respond to external audit requests.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Partner with Finance and IT to optimize ERP and billing systems.
- Support system integrations and automation initiatives.
- Partner with operations, sales, and other departments to improve financial processes.
- Provide guidance on financial implications of business decisions and initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial accounting principles.
- Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with month-end close and financial reporting required.
- Experience with subscription, project-based, and inventory accounting preferred.
- Experience in a service-based or multi-revenue stream environment strongly preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
