Job Description
SUMMARY: This position is filled by a licensed practical nurse who, as a result of educational and clinical experience in nursing, possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide nursing care; coordinates the care of patients within the patient population; ensures quality focused and cost-effective care delivery outcomes; functions within a collaborative practice to enhance quality of care; and participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
Responsible and accountable for direct patient care for assigned patients and providing leadership within the nursing team. Responsible and accountable for the care given to the patient and for the decision regarding which nursing tasks can be safely delegated to licensed and unlicensed persons involved in patient care. Must be competent in a wide variety of nursing skills. Responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and promoting a team effort among co-workers. Responsible and accountable to know, own and energize the vision, mission, values and standards of the healthcare organization.
BAXTER HEALTH COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and adheres to Baxter Health standards as they appear in Dynamic Health and Healthstream Policy Manager. Required to work with the Nurse Director regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Pre-Op Department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure: Current AR or Compact State PN license in good standing.
Experience: Minimum of one year acute care experience required.
Certification: BLS Required, ACLS within the first three months of employment and PALS within the first 6 months of employment. Takes personal initiative to maintain current RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS (if indicated) and other professional certifications current as defined by job role.
Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Occasionally requires lifting of 50 pounds or more of equipment, able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment, and occasionally lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more using proper body mechanics. Spends eight hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations of CPR and obtaining equipment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Has a keen sense of hearing and keen visual acuity to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations and/or equipment alarms. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious diseases. May have to function around prisoners or mental patients.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a position in an outpatient surgery center. Which is open 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. Potential for work on rotating shifts. Holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. You may be asked to work longer hours and assignments may change during your shift.
