Job Description

Southwest Range Services

Operates, maintains, repairs, and installs various types of electronic equipment associated with the ASR-9 radar; personal computers and peripherals; industrial measuring, monitoring and controlling equipment. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operations. Uses Microsoft software products to perform daily duties.

Applies technical knowledge to perform simple or routine O&M tasks following detailed instructions. Performs such tasks as operating electronic instrumentation equipment, replacing components and wiring circuits; repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes. Verifies that ASR-9 radars are within OEM and support parameters prior to test support. Ensures site records comply with FAA regulations.

Receives technical guidance, as required from supervisor or higher level technician. Work is spot-checked for accuracy. Performs other duties as required. Communicates and works effectively with supervisors, coworkers, Government and other personnel.

Work will include associated cross-utilization into other jobs as required. May require TDY, overtime and weekend work.

Demonstration of satisfactory skill and good performance with three years of progressive work experience in the electronics field or graduation from a two year resident course in electronics at a technical institute. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from the FAA’s ASR-9 Maintenance Course #403377 and FAA certification. Four years experience in troubleshooting RF problems in transceivers, RF cabling, RF relay systems and antennas. Complete understanding of IBM compatible computers and operating systems including MS DOS and various versions of Windows. Current CDL preferred.
