Job Description: SEASONAL CAMP SUPERVISOR

Hours: Full Time

Reports to: Programs Manager

Compensation: Hourly, DOE

Camp Supervisor

The Camp Supervisor will be responsible for supporting all aspects of summer camp programming at Austin Bouldering Project. This role includes providing exemplary leadership through direct instruction of the program and working closely with the Programs Manager to support behind-the-scenes admin. Effective communication with staff, management, gym guests, youth participants, and families is at the core of the position. Supervisors model excellent instruction and customer service, support the growth of programs staff through feedback and coaching, and may have additional, unique administrative responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL PROGRAMS DUTIES

  • Model excellent facilitation, communication, and leadership while collaborating with co-coaches.
  • Facilitate check-in, waivers, rental shoes, facility rules, and orientations with youth participants.
  • Proactively provide ongoing feedback to the Programs Manager about day-to-day activities and supplies, and promptly report any troubling or inappropriate behavior by or towards youth.
  • Consistently communicate with parents, coworkers, and participants in a professional manner.
  • Serve as a key resource for ABP’s procedures and policies, and ensure they are executed appropriately.
  • Regularly lead instructors in planning and debrief sessions to help troubleshoot issues, brainstorm creative curriculum, and exchange feedback.
  • Develop and execute lessons that contribute to and reflect the values and quality of ABP’s youth programs.
  • Help facilitate performance conversations, staff meetings, and training sessions.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Work closely with the Programs Manager and Programs Coordinator to cover staff absences, illnesses, and special circumstances.
  • Perform additional administrative responsibilities or special projects such as ordering, marketing, curriculum development, and more.

COMMUNICATION

  • Provide ongoing feedback to youth, their families, and the Programs Manager regarding the needs and development of youth programs participants.
  • Promote safety and etiquette through effective communication with youth participants, families, and instructors.
  • Work under the guidance of the Programs Manager to proactively respond to youth safety concerns or behavioral issues.
  • Regularly communicate with the public via youth programs emails.

FACILITY SAFETY AND INCIDENT RESPONSE

  • Assist in maintaining clean, organized, and well-stocked youth programs equipment and spaces.
  • Ensure that program instructors and participants are aware of the risks, rules, and regulations of the facility.
  • Actively promote risk mitigation through ongoing instruction and orientation.
  • Ensure the safety of participants, staff, and regular customers through group organization, oversight, and control.
  • Respond to injuries, accidents, or incidents following the Safety Manual and ABP protocols, ensuring proper documentation of incidents via the incident report log.
  • Administration of first aid in accordance with Safety Manual and ABP protocol.
  • Document incidents and near misses through incident reports and notify the Programs Manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Seasonal Mon-Fri for the duration of the summer, June 1 - August 14, 2026. 35-40 hours a week.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Availability during camp hours and occasional weekends for camp prep as needed.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • High energy, team oriented, organized, and strong customer service.
  • Competency with Approach preferred.
