Maintenance Mechanic I at Southeastern Health – Lumberton, North Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs minor maintenance on electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, medical gases, heating/cooling, refrigeration and air conditioning, HVAC systems, and general repair; Under the supervision of the engineer, performs assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of equipment related to plant operations;

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS , TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school or 1 minimum of year’ work experience with at least 3 of the following plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and with carpentry, elevators, boilers and laundry equipment; Working knowledge of building and safety codes; Ability to read and interpret code specifications, diagrams, sketches and operation manuals, know how to use e-mail and understand basic computer logic; Valid NC Driver’s License.

Preferred: Above plus formal vocational training in at least one engineering trade.

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication during interaction with others. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.
