Maintenance Worker I - Parks at City of Auburn – Auburn, Washington
About This Position
Some primary duties include:
- Operating and/or driving various equipment and machinery including but not limited to: pickups, one-yard loaders or less, tractors and implements, sign truck, jack-hammers, air compressors, concrete saws, chains saws, all mowers except tractor mowers used to cut rights-of-way, blowers, leaf machines, hand equipment, chippers, small power equipment, generators, sprayers and spreaders, and forklifts.
- Performing semi-skilled and general labor work in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, concrete work, welding, and general maintenance and construction work.
- Planting turf, trees and shrubs; seeding lawns; pruning trees and shrubs; performing various landscaping work; raking and blowing leaves; safely mixing and/or applying pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals to grounds and landscape.
- Installing, operating and maintaining irrigation systems. Setting up athletic fields; measuring distance using a tape measure or calibrated instrument.
- Interacting courteously with other employees, customers, vendors, and members of the public.
- Correctly and safely operating all equipment and tools used in assigned division.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
- One (1) year of full-time, paid related work experience; AND
- A valid driver's license without impending loss at time of appointment.
*If necessary for assigned work, an employee will be required to obtain and maintain a Public Pesticide Operator's license, DSHS Water Supply Certification, First Aid Certification, Flagging Certification, Forklift Certification and/or Defensive Driving Certification, or other required certification or license.
