We are seeking a skilled Systems Engineering Analyst to join our System Engineering team, supporting multiple Tactical Communication and Information Systems (TacCIS) for international customers. The TacCIS provides armed forces with a highly integrated tactical system comprised of communication systems such as radios and telephony, core networking systems that connect intelligence and surveillance assets, battle management systems that enable streamlined operations, and information management systems that process large amounts and types of data.
Based in either our Calgary facility, the ideal candidate would undertake several different initiatives, including (but not limited to) developing system requirements, modelling the system using MBSE techniques, and contextualizing the operational use cases of the system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the System Engineering Team to elicit and define operational requirements and desired capabilities in collaboration with various customers.
- Develop activity, sequence, use case, and block definition diagrams to describe mission scenarios and use cases.
- Develop system requirements, interface specifications, and end-to-end information flows.
- Manage the traceability of higher-level requirements to lower-level requirements and to test artifacts.
- Utilize Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to develop Operational and System Views.
- Present status updates and conduct reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support testing activities including verification and validation of requirements, writing test cases, and producing Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs)
What You Need to Have to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or applicable scientific discipline is required.
- 2+ years of applicable system engineering or related experience.
- Experience working with requirements.
- Experience diagramming system elements using block diagrams, sequence diagrams, and behavioural diagrams.
- Demonstrated initiative and strong verbal and written communications skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated capability of meeting commitments and delivering high quality work products.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience with requirements decomposition, traceability, and management.
- Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS/ERM preferred).
- Experience with designing networking systems.
- Experience with system security.
- Experience with work execution tools (RTC/EWM preferred).
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering techniques and tools (Enterprise Architect preferred) .
- Experience conducting technical analysis and documenting and communicating the results.
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering standards and best practices (such as INCOSE).
- Experience working with a government customer in a direct or indirect capacity.
What We Offer
The hiring range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 CAD annual.
