About This Position
Job Summary
The Team Lead oversees daily production and inventory operations across multiple functional areas and shifts including blending, distillation, Treattarome processing, and stock control. This role provides frontline leadership, ensuring team members meet safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Team Lead coordinates workflows, resolves operational issues, and supports continuous improvement initiatives while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the activities of Operators across assigned production areas.
- Ensure daily tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Monitor equipment performance and escalate issues to maintenance or supervision.
- Review and validate production documentation, inventory records, and quality checks.
- Train and mentor team members; support onboarding and cross-training efforts.
- Enforce GMP, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Communicate operational updates and priorities to team and leadership.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance initiatives.
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Serve as the first point of contact for resolving team-level issues and conflicts.
- Ability to work flexible hours to ensure coverage when warranted.
- Coordinate with planning, QC and QA to meet product specifications and timelines.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications or leadership training preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in production or logistics roles, with demonstrated leadership capability.
- Forklift and Hazardous Materials certifications required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Advanced knowledge of production equipment and inventory systems.
- Proficient in using JD Edwards (JDE) to manage production work orders, inventory transactions, and material planning.
- Skilled in utilizing STARS to record and monitor shop floor production data, labor reporting, and output tracking.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing demands.
Working Conditions
- Production environment with exposure to temperature changes, noise, and wet conditions.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, kneeling, and prolonged standing.
- Heights and Confined Spaces to cover any fear of heights and claustrophobia.
- No travel required.
Role Focus Areas
(Hourly Team Lead – Non-Exempt)
In this role, Team Leads work hands-on alongside team members and take a lead role in driving quality and efficiency, without formal supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, disciplining, or approving pay.
Team Leads may support specialized functional areas such as:
- Blending: Serve as a lead-hand in blend preparation, maintain sanitation standards, and help ensure documentation accuracy.
- Treattarome: Lead aromatic-material processing activities, help uphold sensory and quality standards, and work collaboratively to troubleshoot process issues.
- Distillation: Guide daily distillation operations, help enforce safe handling of refined materials, and participate actively in the workflow.
- Stock Control: Support inventory movement, conduct cycle counts, and help coordinate logistics workflows in partnership with the team.
