Career Support Specialist at Angel Guardian Inc – Omaha, Nebraska

The primary function of the Career Support Specialist is to assist individuals with disabilities in the areas of career planning, employment skills, and maintaining employment.

Angel Guardians is looking for a Career Support Specialist to help guide individuals with disabilities to their preferred career path. Angel Guardians has a goal of fostering abilities, increasing access to, and creating opportunities for inclusion. Through supported employment, we intend to span our mission to the greater Omaha Community in a meaningful way.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coach individuals with disabilities at worksites in becoming independent workers. Examples of supported employment include grocery stocking, janitorial work, hotel upkeep, childcare, etc.

Guide individual in career search. This includes individualized job coaching, resume preparation, mock interviews, and strategies when applying for work.

Attend local career fairs, industry conferences, and other networking events to generate new employers.

Connect with and maintain positive relationships with local businesses employers supporting individuals with disabilities.

Assist Director of TeamWorks with intake of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) referrals.

Complete necessary documentation for individuals in Supported Employment Program.

Other:

Position is 40 hours per week, flexible scheduling with possible nights and weekends.

Attending weekend events will be required on occasion, with advanced notice.

Establish and maintain relationships within the Omaha Community through networking.

This position is a substitute for Angel Guardian’s work-based learning program.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Must be 21 years or older.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Non-judgmental manner with the ability to motivate others.

Experience in job coaching or supported employment preferred.
