About This Position

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Team Lead to join our dynamic team. In this hands-on position, you will be responsible for overseeing production associate duties, including operating machinery, ensuring product quality, and meeting production targets. As a key player, you will foster a safe and efficient work environment, enforce safety protocols, and provide leadership and guidance to your team to optimize productivity and product quality. You will also serve as the shift lead in the absence of the primary coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:

Production and Quality:

  • Operate machinery, inspect products, and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor size, placement, and condition of components to minimize defects and reduce rework.
  • Identify and address quality issues promptly by collaborating with the production and quality teams for corrective actions.

Servant Leadership and Support:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members to maximize efficiency and maintain high standards.
  • Lead by example to encourage teamwork, promote a positive work environment, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Step in as the primary lead when the coordinator is absent, ensuring production goals and team needs are met.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Prioritize safety by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring PPE compliance.
  • Conduct regular workstation and equipment checks to comply with safety regulations and mitigate potential risks.
  • Address safety concerns immediately, striving for zero recordable accidents.

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Continuously enhance knowledge in areas like press setup, laser cutting, press brake operation, and welding to effectively lead the team.
  • Mentor and train team members to ensure adherence to best practices and improve technical processes.

Material Management:

  • Efficiently manage materials to maintain continuous production flow, moving materials to and from workstations and shipping areas.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Actively engage in Lean Daily Management and 5S initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve standard work procedures and problem-solving techniques.

Core Role Expectations:

  • Take full ownership of your responsibilities, addressing customer concerns and ensuring task completion.
  • Uphold NSC's Quality Management System and safety protocols, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and build positive relationships within the team.
  • Maintain safety awareness, demonstrating proactive behaviors to protect people and property.
  • Ensure effective housekeeping habits (including 5S) to maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a production environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using pneumatic tools, blueprint reading, and inspection instruments (micrometers, calipers).
  • Leadership: Strong ability to mentor, assign tasks, provide feedback, and hold individuals accountable.
  • Time Management: Ability to plan, sequence, and complete work assignments to meet production deadlines.
  • Software Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems.
